Cross Infection Control
Autoclaves

Dentaljuce’s excellent module on Cross Infection Control in Dentistry is written in straightforward language for the whole dental team, and covers all you could want to know about this increasingly important core verifiable CPD topic for dentists and dental nurses. If you haven’t subscribed to dentaljuce yet, why not join us now at this amazingly low price !

Autoclaves are an essential part of cross infection control, helping to ensure sterility of instruments used on patients. There are two main types of autoclave – the vacuum autoclave, and the downward displacement autoclave. Both have advantages and disadvantages, and there can be problems in achieving sterility if you don’t understand how they work.

This page discusses their use in a fun and thought-provoking question and answer format. Less experienced members can use it for learning, and if you think you already know it, you can test yourself to prove it.
