Healthier eating
Welcome to this Dentaljuce course on Healthier Eating, much of which references the "Delivering better oral health" toolkit provided by NHS England.
The course focuses on the messages and advice that dental professionals should give to parents and children, including infants, to support them in improving their eating habits towards achieving a healthy diet.
The Healthier Eating online learning module has clear and concise aims, objectives and anticipated outcomes, listed below. These will appear on the Dentaljuce Enhanced CPD Certificate, along with the time spent, dates, and detailed topics you studied within the module. The aim of the learning and teaching materials in this Dentaljuce module is to allow learners to develop their professional knowledge and competence in helping their patients to improve their diet, in line with their identified personal learning requirements and the requirements of the UK NHS's "Delivering better oral health" toolkit.
Module objective
• to update members of the dental team with current best practice for healthy eating.
Anticipated learning outcomes
The learner will:
• Understand what free sugars are, and their role in the diet.
• Understand the relationship between sugar consumption and caries.
• Be able to advise on good dietary practice for all age groups.
• through achieving these outcomes, provide an improved level of service to their patients.
